I haven't been performing in more than 2 years. I'

I haven't been performing in more than 2 years. I've sung only for some friends, family, and with my students. I've had a hard time not evaluating every note, allowing myself to just sing and enjoy it. To me it always had to sound perfect or close to perfect, otherwise it wouldn't be good enough.
Yesterday I thought of this song, and I decided to record myself. There are no fireworks, I'm not trying too hard, it's just a short conversation with myself. I listened back, and the first instinct was to record it again and do better. The truth is, the second time it wasn't as real as this.
The song says "She's imperfect but she tries". My resolution for the new year is to quit thinking that "it has to be perfect" and just sing the damn song. 😂

Ok, wow. 🤯 I've been lucky enough to work with an amazing Dutch singer this week. If you haven't heard about her yet, trust me, it's just a matter of time. I'm still mind blown. 😍

This young woman is Tosh Jordan, and this is a before-and-after video from her first voice lesson with me on Skype. She was so kind to let me post this! ☺️
She sang a song by Whitney Houston called "I'm every woman" and she was feeling a bit uncomfortable on the high notes.

Now, when you have such a pretty voice, I believe there's no way you can sound bad, no matter what you do.
That being said, I wanted her to feel more comfortable up there so that she could focus on singing and not worry about hitting the notes.
After just a few exercises and quick suggestions, her voice gained so much depth, especially in the low notes!! She actually reminded me of Whitney!
